For decades, healing trauma was all about the head, and we have much to thank the traditional “talk therapy” for. More recently, the focus shifted to the body, and we have been blessed to have so many somatic (body-based) healing modalities available. Like in a “healing supermarket”, we can pick all sorts of breathwork, sound healing, immersions, hot and cold exposure, movement-based modalities, anger work/primal therapy, plant medicine and so on.
But this diversity hasn’t come without its challenges. We’ve learned (some the hard way) that without some fundamental knowledge of how it actually works, it is all too easy to get lost in the maze. At best, we can find ourselves jumping from workshop to workshop without much impact on our daily lives, bypassing the hard bits. And in some cases, we can let the genie out of the bottle and re-surface our traumas without adequate capacity, support, knowledge and resources to deal with them.
What’s even more exciting, is that now we’re at the new frontier of understanding and processing trauma. We’re learning, as Dr Lisa Feldman put it, that while the body is the scorecard, it is the brain that actually keeps the score. Turns out we need both the body AND the mind to heal safely and effectively.
Back due to popular demand and expanded, this hands-on intensive and interactive workshop packs years of practical hands-on somatic processing experience supported by the latest neuroscience, including the “prediction neurobiology” which sheds new light on the communication between the body and brain.
This workshop is for:
Packed with practical knowledge and ready-to-use tools, it will cover:
Plus, you will get to meet, connect with and learn from like-minded people.
Light and wholesome lunch is included, and a handout with key points, tools and resources will be provided.
Please also note that it is a mixed audience event, and while we’ll do our best to speak plain language, it might still be slightly on a geeky side :)
